Eurotunnel, Folkestone

9kWp off-grid solar & LED lighting project for Eurotunnel’s new welcome
sign at the M20 freight services entrance. The 1st off-grid system in the EU using Aquion batteries. After a lengthy tender process ESS designed an autonomous solar power and battery system to provide power to the sign 365 days a year using the Aquion SP30 AHi salt water batteries.

The installation was installed in challenging conditions on a site with difficult access beside a busy motorway. ESS developed the power supply system in conjunction with the sign designers whilst adhering to strict planning conditions limiting brightness and operational hours at the road side. The 48V system is purely DC with power from the PV array being directly stored in the batteries to supply the LED's.

Canterbury College, Canterbury

50kWp solar PV installation on trapezoidal roof with web based monitoring system at a local FE College to help reduce electrical costs, meet BREEAM requirements and generate additional income from the Feed In Tariff. The system has exceeded the BREEAM generation targets by 8% in the first year.

Millgate Homes, Bromley

(5 x 12kW Worcester Air Source Heat Pumps).
ESS commissioned multiple ASHP systems for a high-spec new build project in Bromley for developer Millgate Homes.

Colliery Mews & Timber Yard Court, Telford

(22 PV Systems for New Build Houses)
ESS designed, supplied and installed solar PV for 10 Mews Houses and 12 new build flats for this new development to meet the SAP requirements andCode for Sustainable Homes planning conditions. The internal finish was to a very high standard so designing the least visually intrusive wiring and electrical components was paramount. 

Installation was carried out whilst major civil works were being carried out onsite requiring close communication with the site manager and other trades to ensure the project was completed on time and on budget.

Fullerton Rd, Croydon

(New-build: 6kWp PV System)
Designed, supplied and installed solar PV for 6 new build flats in Croydon with a combination of “in-roof” and ballasted flat roof panel fixings.

La Retrait School,London

Supplied and installed gas boiler, low temperature heating systems including installation of new underfloor heating and low surface temperature radiators, disabled toilet and staff welfare facilities in a new-build library building for the Uprise Group.

3 New-build Houses, St Margarets, Kent

ESS were asked to design 3 solar PV systems to meet the SAP requirements for a new builddevelopment in East Kent. Each system was build in-roof to improve the aesthetic appearance and reduce wind-loading issues at the coastal location. Each dwelling is now sold and the new owners registered with the Feed In Tariff scheme.registered with

Dover Town Hall

High efficiency plumbing refurbishment: ESS designed, supplied and installed an energy efficient hot water system to supply the new male and female changing rooms, showers and toilets using two Mega Flow eco cylinders, including timed push button showers with a pre-set maximum temperature to reduce waste.

St Margaret's-At-Cliffe Country Club

Swimming pool alterations. Work included draining down the swimming pool boilers, upgrading all pipe-work and recommissioning the boilers to comply with H&S legislation changes. Work carried out for Karllee Construction Ltd.

New-build Flats, Hounslow,London

ESS were asked to design a solar PV system to supply 8 new build flatsto meet SAP requirements. Due to the lack of flat roof space an East/West system was proposed using high efficiency Panasonic panels to ensure there was enough generation per square meter to meet the SAP targets
