Heat Pump Case Studies

New Build Project, Whitstable

ESS were asked to design a 5kW Air Source Heat Pump, 4kW Solar PV array, Underfloor Heating & Smart Metering system for this new-build holiday home near Whitstable.

The roof integrated PV system has individual panel monitoring as well as an import/export and smart meter system to allow full visibility of the system performance. The ASHP also benefits from the new MMSP monitoring set up and additional OFGEM payments. Underfloor heating on both floors allows for a low flow temperature improving the efficiency of the system and reducing the run time of the pump. During the sunnier months the heat pump is directly powered by the Solar PV array. Both technologies attract FIT and RHI payments.   

Extension & Renovation, Canterbury

ESS designed a 14kW Air Source Heat Pump system with new radiators and underfloor heating for this extension and renovation project near Canterbury.

The project was a combination of old and new construction materials resulting in different areas of the building having different heat losses. After full modeling of the different areas a combination of zoned underfloor heating and new radiators was designed and installed throughout the house. The system qualifies for both the RHI and additional MMSP payments to give the user detailed information of running costs and savings.

ESS designed, supplied and installed a complete renewable heatingsystem for this 3 bedroom new-build including solar PV, Ecodan 8kW air source heat pump and underfloor heating. The project also included MCS and RHI sign off for the PV, thermal and ASHP technologies.

Refurbishment, Wickhambreux

This project is located some distance from the gas network and the clients were looking for an alternative to LPG or oil heating. After an initial consultation ESS designed an 8kW Ecodan air source heat pump system with new radiators throughout.
