Solar PV

Solar Photovoltaic (PV)

The installation of a Solar PV system can help you save a significant amount of money on your electricity bills providing a level of price certainty for future energy costs.

With no moving parts Solar PV is extremely reliable and requires little maintenance when designed and installed correctly. Solar electricity can be used directly onsite, diverted to hot water storage via an immersion coil, used to charge EV's or stored in batteries for night time use.

Once the capital costs are recouped through savings and any tariff income power generated by the system is effectively free! Contact us today to discuss how a PV system could benefit your home or business.

Heliomotion Solar Trackers Now Available
The tracker has an integrated GPS module used to determine the local time, date, latitude and longitude. The tracker calculates the sun’s position in the sky in order to follow it. Solar tracking increases energy yield by 30-60% per year, compared with a stationary panel facing south with an ideal tilt. The extra energy is generated in the morning and in the evening which matches the consumption curve of a typical household much more efficiently than a static system which peaks at solar noon – often when everyone is out of the house.

Leasing

ESS work with specialist lease partners who provide lease packages for commercial clients. Leases can be on or off balance sheet. Leasing allows PV systems to be installed at a reduced cost protecting capital for other uses.
Solar PV Case Studies

Smeeth, Ashford

110kWp Solar PV Install for Local Retail Park
ESS were asked to design a ground mounted system to provide power to this multi unit retail site near Ashford.

The site was restricted by limits imposed by the DNO and the local grid infrastructure. ESS arranged for a transformer upgrade and installed new feeder cables for the solar installations including civils and groundworks. The system is fixed without using concrete so the site can be easily restored to farm land in the future. ESS completed all ground-works, electrical design and installation.

Discovery Park, Sandwich

50kWp Solar PV Install for Timber Frame Manufacturing Site
ESS were invited to install a system to help power this new build timber frame manufacturing site near Sandwich in Kent.

The new building was designed with energy efficient lighting, biomas heating to make use of waste wood and solar PV panels to power the electrical plant. All new timber frames are now made using renewable energy helping to reduce the cycle of greenhouse gas emissions and making the whole construction process more sustainable.

Primary School, Ramsgate

30kWp Solar PV Install for Primary Academy Trust
ESS were asked to install a 30kWp system to help power this Academy site in Ramsgate, Kent.

The school has high daytime electrical usage so is a good candidate for solar PV. As an educational site it's also exempt from the EPC requirements and can access the higher Feed In Tariffs as a result. The building was very old and a significant amount of time was spent surveying the roof structure to ensure that the additional loadings were acceptable. A combination of flat and curved roofs were used to spread the loadings across the site. All generation and inverter performance is monitored remotely via a WiFi web connection.
